First Impressions

Nowadays it seems like the cool thing to do is rip on skiers and people they have never met or barely even know. It happens everywhere I turn. But why? I don't see why you would insult someone you've never met. Why would you diss a person who you have practically no knowledge of?

People are dissing pro star skiers left right and center like it's a sport or something. I don't know how many times I've heard people bitch about how Johnny Moseley sucks. I don't many people doing rodeo's as big and clean as him. He's an incredible bump skier, excellent big mountain skier and well rounded jumper (he does more tricks then just rodeo's you know, it's just that it's a big trick that he has down really good, you go with your strongest jump that you know you can stomp in a competition, not a jump you think you might land). So why all the insults? Oh it's his personality is it? I bet most of you guys haven't even met him in person. I bet almost none of you have ever had a good conversation with him either. Who the fuck are you to judge what kind of person he is? At the most, you've seen him talk on tv and read something about him in a magazine. First of all, that is almost nothing to make a character judgement on and second of all, most of what they say on tv or that is written up doesn't truly reflect the attitude of the person.

People are dissing small time skiers too. What's with all this shit talking about rich kids who can afford new gear and summer camps and that? Believe it or not, alot of those kids worked their asses off so that they could go out and afford to get it. Then they're the rich parents scenario. Their parents are richer then most and the kids are understandably taking advantage of the situation. You'd do the same. If you are skiing, you can't be all that poor, skiing is an expensive sport to participate in (and if you are poor, it's cause you spend all your money ON skiing). But I don't get why you insult people who ride 1080's while sporting all the new Sessions clothing. They're just going out and trying to have a good time (I know this repeats on the other editorial, but it's an important point). So what if they're buying such and such equipment? Advertisers can be really persuasive you know, it's their job to hype up things. When you're new to a sport you don't have too much knowledge about what equipment to get. Who can blame them if they are so enthusiastic about participating in a sport that they go out and purchase tons of new equipment?

Really, people need to stop dissing everyone else and just chill. Focus on having fun, not preventing someone else from having fun.
